MEPS Trust Well Woman Clinic Fundraising Luncheon
The objective was to raise funds for the Well Woman Clinic's new project - the Prenatal Equipment Project (PREP). This project aims to provide two free ultrasound examinations to 1000 underprivileged women during pregnancy for early detection of complications and immediate referrals for expert treatment. We hope that this new pilot project will make a difference to the high maternal mortality rate in Sierra Leone. It will complement antenatal clinics in Freetown by providing this unique service.
A cross section of the Freetown community graced the luncheon which event went on from 2pm -9pm. There was ample to eat and drink - wine and draught beer were served, courtesy of the organisers. The highlight of the day was the raffle draw. The star prize was won by Dr. F Whitfield, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist. This was a truly deserved winner.
Net amount received so far is approximately Le16million. Our appreciation goes to the fundraising committee: chairperson, Dr. Nnenna, Edleen, Sanira, Francis, Beatrice, Fifi, Frankie, Ditto, Ese, Jennifer; our MC, Yeniva; sponsors, Comium and SN Brussels Airlines; distinguished patrons.
We could not have done it without you all!! See you next year!!
